I've been a busy bee lately. There is enough built to display a new game and I've decided to call the next game "Emerald Run". The game is essentially collecting the emeralds and avoiding obstacles in a large world setting.
The big step up in this game is its OpenGL ES 2 capable. That means dynamic shadows and bump mapping! A ton of work.
I put a bit of effort into making the game compatible in every way with landscape and portrait mode. Though, I did put in a button to stop rotation.
Emerald Run also runs with older OpenGL ES 1.1 based graphics.
Still a few more things to iron out but all the levels are complete. Ironically, the 8 GB iPod 2nd generation device really limits the amount of content.
At some point, I'll try to get it working on the iPad but I think Apple is going to have to upgrade that system software first.
Here are some teaser screenshots. These were taken on a third generation iPod Touch.

Portrait mode....

And the kicker .... OpenGL 1.1 compatibility mode! Feels like building two games ... ouch.
